Asiascape.org is an international research coalition in the rapidly emerging fields of cyberculture and animanga (anime and manga), especially as they relate to or originate from East Asia. In 2014, Asiascape will intensify the incorporation of Taiwan in its research agenda as part of its Spotlight Taiwan Project, an agreement between Leiden University’s Faculty of Humanities and the government of Taiwan.
As part of the Spotlight Taiwan project, Asiascape also teams up with the Political and Philosophical Arts Initiative to provide the foundations of highlighting Taiwan in the research and education agenda of Leiden University more prominently. Spotlight Taiwan can ultimately support Taiwanese cultural events at more than a dozen universities beyond Leiden, including UCLA and University of London. In agreement with Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture, Asiascape will host an international conference on Digital Asia with a special focus on Taiwan in January 2014, a Taiwan film festival in April 2014, and an Artist-in-Residence program in May and June 2014. Professor Chris Goto-Jones, Director of Asiascape, is delighted to invite you to the Spotlight Taiwan Sampler on Monday 2 December from 19.00 until 21.00 in the Auditorium at LUC The Hague for a taste of Asiascape’s vision on Taiwan. All players in the Asiascape Spotlight Taiwan Project will be present (physically and virtually) to warm you up for the exciting events in 2014. |
